Supta Vajrasana - The Supine Thunderbolt Pose



Supta Vajrasana is Vajrasana in Lying down position.

Practice this asana slowly without haste.

Sit in vajrasana, bend backwards, place right and left palm behind you on the floor, palm facing forward, and be in this position for few breathe.

Next bend your elbows one by one and place them on the floor behind you and be there in this position for few breathe.

If comfortable in above position go down more and place your back, shoulder, head on the floor, with your hands on the side of your body.

Place your right hand palm under your left shoulder and your left hand palm under your right shoulder and be there for 11 to 30 breaths.

In Supta Vajrasana,
  • Muscles of our chest, abdomen, thighs gets stretched giving them maximum toning and elasticity.
  • Muscles in abdominal region are stretched.
  • The abdominal wall becomes flexible
  • Unnecessary blood accumulation around inner abdominal organs like liver, spleen, stomach, large intestine, small intestine, gall bladder etc. is drained, improving their functioning.
  • Fat deposited in abdominal region is removed.
  • Helps in treating indigestion, constipation,gas trouble, acidity, heaviness of stomach etc.
  • Knee joint and ankle joint are stretched, increasing blood circulation in and around them, improving the joints and making them more efficient and flexible.
  • Muscles on chest region like costal and intercostal muscles, become strong, healthy and more flexible, increasing capacity of lung.
  • It helps to cure respiratory issues like breathelessness, asthma etc.

Just reducing your body fat would not make you healthy

If our body parts are not healthy and we reduce our fats, our body health would not improve much.

We need healthy inner and outer body to improve our health.

To get a healthy body, give exercise to each and every body part.

Body parts are outer body as well as inner body.

Our body parts include brain, stomach, intestine, liver, spleen, lungs, eyes, cornea, spinal cord, joints, cells, etc.

When we exercise we need to give exercise to all these body parts.

Just exercising to reduce our body fat would not make us much healthy.

How do we exercise all our body parts; inner as well as outer?

Yoga has exercise for all body parts, inner as well as outer body.

Yoga Asanas ( exercises ) are the exercises which give exercise to each and every body parts.

The biggest benefit of Yoga is that Yoga helps to improve each and every part of body.

In Yoga each and every body part is considered and given exercise.

If our inner body and outer body is healthy than body fats would not harm us.

If our inner and outer body parts are healthy than our body fats would balance themselves as per our body needs.

Normally Actors, obese people need to reduce body fat. Of course they need to improve their inner as well as outer body also.

Do not get too much obsessed with your body fat; instead concentrate on improving the health of your inner body parts like brain, lungs, stomach, liver, spleen, pancreas, intestine, cornea etc.

If our inner body parts are not healthy, than just reducing out fats would not be of much help to improve our health. We also need to eat healthy food, have positive thinking.

Yoga at our convenience

We need to know that our health is not only important for our selves, but it is important to keep our near and dear and well wishers and everybody happy. If we are healthy we can spread happiness.

I like Baba Ramdev Maharaj easy Asanas and Pranayam, they are very healthy and keep our body fit. Baba Ramdev's class are everywhere all over India, and they give free Yoga Coaching. His teachings are also shown all over India early morning at 5.00 to 7.30 am on Aastha channel. If Yoga can be done in Open space it is best, but we can do it at our convenience at home also.

While doing Yoga we should be empty stomach. Best time to do Yoga is early morning between 4.00 am to 7.00 am. Second best time is 5.30 pm to 7.30 pm evening. It can be done at any time on empty stomach. It should be done 5 hours after heavy meal.

Why was I not thought about Love, Compassion, Enligthenment, Yoga, Pranayam, Meditation in School?

Why are we thought about War, Country borders, Dissection, XX and XY , Lehman Bros, Diseases and not about Love (other than xx and xy), Compassion, Yoga, Pranayam, Meditation, in our School Education System?

Why are Yogis impossible to find?

Even though Yoga is very good for individual development, my personal experience is that, it is impossible to find a friend or relative devoted to Yoga.

I have hundreds of relatives and friends but nobody is interested in Yoga.

I feel people interested in Yoga like me are not even minority, but almost non-existent.

Here Yoga includes Yama, Niyama, Asana, Pranayama, Pratyahara, Dharan, Dhyana, Samadhi.

How do I fulfil my urge to enjoy Yoga?

1. By being in the state of Yoga as much time as possible

11 differences between Yoga and Normal Exercise

Normally all movements in Yoga are round movements. Hands and Legs, Torso, Body is moved in natural round movement.


In normal exercise round movement are not used much.

  • Although yoga during pregnancy is safe if practiced under expert guidance, pregnant women should avoid certain poses that may be problematic.

How does a person become self reliant?

By doing Yoga, Pranayam and Meditation.

When you start doing Yoga, Pranayam and Meditation, you start realizing yourself. You start become more healthy, you do not fall ill. You start connecting with nature.

Once you get healthy and start connecting with nature by doing Yoga, Pranayam and Meditation, your need and wants start decreasing naturally, automatically.

Your urge for more starts decreasing. If you are alcoholic or smoker, your urge or need for them automatically decreases.

You start enjoying Pranayam and Meditation, you start enjoying the mountains, sun, sea, colors, flowers. You donot feel that you should have more and more

You start feeling oneness with everything.Your urge to have your name on everything decreases.

Your need for artificial momentary happiness, which later has worse hang up reduces.By doing Yoga, Pranayam and Meditation, your urge to eat unhealthy food decreases.

You automatically start avoiding unhealthy food. If you have unhealthy food before you, you will get natural power not to eat it.

We become self reliant by doing Yoga, Pranayam and Meditation because our body balances itself.

Remove loneliness

How to fill this emptiness or isolation.

Sometimes people feel loneliness even if they are in the crowd, even if thousand of people are their neighbor.

Loneliness is a feeling, which a person choose themselves. They individually decide that they are lonely.

Whole natural creations in this universe are with us, so why to feel lonely.

Find a companionship with yourself, with nature and everything around you.

We need air, which is easily available. Have it to the full.

We need water, which normally is available to our required need. Enjoy it to the full.

We normally get food as per our needs, enjoy it to the full.

We can do Yoga Pranayam and meditation with help of earth, air, space, and our body and soul. We donot need anything else.

Do yoga Pranayam and meditation, you will not have time to feel lonely.

Where is the time to feel lonely? When you have whole nature with you. To make nature our companion be with nature, follow natures way.

Do yoga, pranayam and meditation. Breathe, inhale, exhale.

Yoga, Pranayam and Meditation would make you feel that whole universe is your. You will be able to find companionship in everything.

Small small things would excite you. Flowers, Trees, Birds, Sky, Cloud, Moon, Rising and Setting Sun, Fresh Air, Rain, Snow, Colors everything would excite you.

You would not have time to be alone.

Yoga, Pranayam and meditation increases your confidence in yourself.

You become more strong physically and mentally.

Through Yoga, Pranayam and Meditation, reach to a state of consciousness where you get connected to everything.

What to do if you are unable to sleep ?

When you go to bed to sleep and are unable to sleep, you wait for sleep to come. Change your sides, but unfortunately sometimes you are unable to sleep.

There can be various reasons for not being able to sleep. May be you are under stress or you have some tension, or you slept much during the day. Some times even though you are feeling sleepy, but are unable to sleep.

Instead of just lying on the bed, do the following:

1. Sit and rub your feet, give massage to your feet including sole's for 5 minutes each.

2. Massage both your calf's for 5 minutes each.

3. Rub your palm and massage your wrist upto elbow for 5 minutes each.

4. Massage you hand and feet, toes and fingers.

5. Sit. Keep your spine straight. Fold your hands and touch your shoulder's with your palm fingers and rotate your arms from your shoulder for 10 times.

6. Straighten your hands, close your palm with thumb inside your palm, touch both your closed palms together and rotate your palms.

7. Straighten your legs, keep them together and rotate your feet’s, both together ten times clockwise, ten times anti clockwise.

8. Lie down on your stomach, put your palms besides your shoulders, raise your chest and shoulders, bring them down. Do this for 5 times.

9. If you know about yoga, pranayam than do them. Just remember you need to be empty stomach to do some yoga and pranayam.

10. Meditation is a conscious sleep, which gives better results than sleep. If you had done meditation in past than do it now also, instead of just lying down and waiting to sleep.

Please take advice from registered medical practitioner before doing any form of exercise.

This is for people who do not have any illness and may not be able to sleep some times due to some stress or tension or due to any other reason.

Give time to yourself

Give time to eat. Chew your food properly. Eat healthy food.

Give time to breathe. Take deep breathe. Give time to inhale and exhale.

Give time to exercise, do yoga, do pranayam, meditate.

Give time to talk. Pause before you speak.

Give time to keep silence.

Give time to your Parents, Spouse / Partner, Siblings, Childrens, Friends.

Give time serve others.

Give time to bath.

Give time to your hobby.

Give time to brush your teeth.

Give time to rest.

Give time to sleep.

Give time to go to nature.

Give time to walk on green grass.

Give time to yourself.

Give time for proper maintanence of your body.

Taking care of your skin and hair is not enough.

Let the glow come from within your body.

Improve your inner body.

Improve your stomach, lungs, intestine, spleen, pancreas etc.

Remove toxins from your body.

Give exercise to your body.

Do Yoga and Pranayam and learn to Meditate.

Movie stars have great body. They earn money because of their looks and body and acting skills and not because of their clothes. They keep themselves healthy and take good care of their outer and inner body.
