Tom had just completed his evening walk and jogging, and was sitting on a bench in the Central Park enjoying the evening.

A Palmist, who had completed his evening walk came by and sat on the seat besides Tom.

Palmist started talking with Tom. Palmist introduces himself and started having a look at palm of Tom.

Palmist:: The lines on your palm show that you are in deep trouble and trouble is going to increase.

Palmist:: To come out of trouble Tom, you will have to perform certain rituals on the bank of certain river.

Tom:: Would it cost to perform the ritual or is it free?"

Palmist:: It would cost around $ 500 to perform the ritual as I will have to go to the banks of certain river and buy certain items for performing the ritual.

Tom:: I do not have $ 500 with me.

Palmist: How much money do you have?

Tom: I have not money with me.

Palmist: Ok, I will reduce certain ritual item, just pay me $ 300, and I will perform the ritual and you will not have to face the trouble.

Tom: But I do not have any money.

Palmist: Ok, I will help you, pay me just $ 100, and you will be out of trouble.

Tom: I told you I do not have any money.

Palmist: Ok, just pay me traveling expenses of $ 25 and I will add your ritual with the ritual of my other client so that it does not cost you more.

Tom: Sir I do not have even $ 5 with me.

Palmist: Do not worry, if you do not have any money, what would trouble do to you, even trouble cannot trouble you.

Over the past 20 years, mind-body medicine Practices that focus on the interactions among the brain, mind, body, and behavior, with the intent to use the mind to affect physical functioning and promote health. Examples include meditation and yoga. has provided considerable evidence that psychological factors can play a substantive role in the development and progression of coronary artery disease. There is evidence that mind-body interventions can be effective in the treatment of coronary artery disease, enhancing the effect of standard cardiac rehabilitation in reducing all-cause mortality and cardiac event recurrences for up to 2 years.

Mind-body interventions have also been applied to various types of pain. Clinical trials indicate that these interventions may be a particularly effective adjunct in the management of arthritis, with reductions in pain maintained for up to 4 years and reductions in the number of physician visits. When applied to more general acute and chronic pain management, headache, and low-back pain, mind-body interventions show some evidence of effects, although results vary based on the patient population and type of intervention studied.

There is considerable evidence that emotional traits, both negative and positive, influence people's susceptibility to infection. Following systematic exposure to a respiratory virus in the laboratory, individuals who report higher levels of stress or negative moods have been shown to develop more severe illness than those who report less stress or more positive moods. Recent studies suggest that the tendency to report positive, as opposed to negative, emotions may be associated with greater resistance to objectively verified colds. These laboratory studies are supported by longitudinal studies pointing to associations between psychological or emotional traits and the incidence of respiratory infections.

Meditation, one of the most common mind-body interventions, is a conscious mental process that induces a set of integrated physiological changes termed the relaxation response. Functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) has been used to identify and characterize the brain regions that are active during meditation. This research suggests that various parts of the brain known to be involved in attention and in the control of the autonomic nervous system are activated, providing a neurochemical and anatomical basis for the effects of meditation on various physiological activities. Recent studies involving imaging are advancing the understanding of mind-body mechanisms. For example, meditation has been shown in one study to produce significant increases in left-sided anterior brain activity, which is associated with positive emotional states. Moreover, in this same study, meditation was associated with increases in antibody titers to influenza vaccine, suggesting potential linkages among meditation, positive emotional states, localized brain responses, and improved immune function.

Clinical observation has suggested that negative mood or stress is associated with slow wound healing. Basic mind-body research is now confirming this observation.

The Moving Meditation - Tai Chi

My interest in Yoga, Pranayam and Meditation has lead me to another form of deep breathing and meditation exercise which is called Tai Chi.

Tai Chi is a complete package. It is a low impact aerobics, it includes breathing exercise, it includes meditation.

In Tai Chi body is moved slowly and gently along with deep conscious breathing and meditating.

It is a low impact form of aerobic exercise.

There are various forms of meditation, Tai Chi is also one form.

Tai Chi is a moving meditation.

Tai Chi involves series flexible, supple, slow and relaxed movements, like the movements of 5 animals : snake, crane, tiger, leopard and dragon.

The movements in Tai Chi are performed in a gentle uniform speed.

One Tai Chi style contains minimum of 13 movements.

All movements are continous process. There is no break in movement, each movement flows into the next.

In Tai Chi entire body is always in motion.

In Tai Chi breathing should be focused, deep and relaxed.

Body should also be relaxed.

In Tai Chi meditation can be achieved by maintaining or focusing on a specific posture.

While doing Tai Chi we can imagine that a string goes from the top of our head in to the heaven and the body's weight is sinking to the soles of the feet.

Benefits of Tai Chi are:

Wrong information is conveyed about Global Warming to General Public.

Many people say that Global Warming will destroy the earth.

This is totally wrong.

Global warming will only destroy "human".

Human has no capability to destroy earth.

Earth is infinite times more powerful than human.

Human has no capacity to even destroy nucleus of an Atom on this earth.

Human is minuscule, very very small particle in this universe/ cosmos.

If all nuclear bombs and arsenal together are bombed on this earth, it would not make any difference to earth.

Of course human themselves may get destroyed by their own creation of nuclear and other bombs.

Earth has capacity to convert one energy into another.

If human gets destroyed, they cannot convert their own energy into another enegy.

Poor human does not know, where its energy goes after death.

While earth keeps its energy and use it for betterment of everybody

Pain and agony - Kinda Zen story

A family was going through a bad phase in their life. They were unhappy with the circumstances. They were not able to come out with a solution. They tried to take help from their friends and relatives, but to no avail. They prayed to god, went to various religious places. But their pain and agony was increasing day by day.

They started feeling that there is not solution to their pain and agony. They thought that god is not helping them. (Normally people go to god when they go through pain and agony and bad phase).

They decide to go to a religious place located on top of a mountain. To reach this religious place people had to walk for 4 hours.

On their way to this religious place they stopped to take rest.

A hermit / zen master / yogi was sitting besides them.

The family started talking to hermit / zen master / yogi.

The family told the hermit about their pain and agony.

Hermit was listening to the family.

Hermit asked the family to come along with him for 5 minutes.

They walked towards the bushes.

While walking through the bushes, hermit saw a caterpiller.

The caterpiller had difficulty surviving in the bushes as there were many insect eating birds in the bushes.

Hermit said to family "If you can take care of this caterpiller your pain and agony would go away."

Family was puzzled, but they thought lets try it. So they took the plant along with the caterpiller with them.

They moved forward.

Hermit saw a cactus in the bush. It was not the perfect place for a cactus to survive.

Hermit said to family " If you take care of this cactus your bad phase will end, you will always be happy."

Again the family was puzzled. They thought to give it a try. They took the cactus long with its root and soil to take its proper care.

Hermit asked the family to go back and continue their journey and Hermit went in the different way which led to the jungle.

The family was confused but they were taking proper care of the cactus and the caterpiller.

The child in the family questioned " There are so many beautiful flowers and butterfly, why did the hermit give us cactus and caterpiller."

Parents had no answer to the question. They completed their journey taking care of cactus and caterpiller.

The family reached home after few days. They were very tired. They went to sleep. They saw hermit in their dream. Hermit did not say anything in their dream.

The family woke up in the morning.

The family child went to see how the cactus and caterpillar were.

On seeing the caterpillar and cactus, family child called the family to come and have a look.

The family came, and their face brightened.

They saw a beautiful butterfly and a beautiful flower on cactus.

Pain and agony leads to more brightness and happiness.

Ants - A Zen Story

Ants were staying in a colony situated in a garden. A man walked beside their colony. Colony of Ants trembled and part of colony fell down. Ants ran here and there to save themselves. Some Ants died, many survived. Scientist research team of Ants did a research on this. They came to a conclusion that it was a massive earth quake measuring 7.9 on Richter scale. Rescue operation had begun.

Ants could never know that the earthquake in their colony occurred due to a visit by a man near their colony.

A continent on earth faced an earth quake. Human measured the earthquake at 7.9 on Richter scale. Human proved that there was a fault line and two big stones were forcing each other, and earthquake came because of release of this energy.

Human never knew that someone walked nearby.

Science has proved that human cannot hear many sounds. In the same way there are so many things which are impossible for human to see or know.

There are many more colors in cosmos and universe and on earth which human cannot see.

Human is a very very minute part of this cosmos / universe.

Remove loneliness

How to fill this emptiness or isolation.

Sometimes people feel loneliness even if they are in the crowd, even if thousand of people are their neighbor.

Loneliness is a feeling, which a person choose themselves. They individually decide that they are lonely.

Whole natural creations in this universe are with us, so why to feel lonely.

Find a companionship with yourself, with nature and everything around you.

We need air, which is easily available. Have it to the full.

We need water, which normally is available to our required need. Enjoy it to the full.

We normally get food as per our needs, enjoy it to the full.

We can do Yoga Pranayam and meditation with help of earth, air, space, and our body and soul. We donot need anything else.

Do yoga Pranayam and meditation, you will not have time to feel lonely.

Where is the time to feel lonely? When you have whole nature with you. To make nature our companion be with nature, follow natures way.

Do yoga, pranayam and meditation. Breathe, inhale, exhale.

Yoga, Pranayam and Meditation would make you feel that whole universe is your. You will be able to find companionship in everything.

Small small things would excite you. Flowers, Trees, Birds, Sky, Cloud, Moon, Rising and Setting Sun, Fresh Air, Rain, Snow, Colors everything would excite you.

You would not have time to be alone.

What to do if you are unable to sleep ?

When you go to bed to sleep and are unable to sleep, you wait for sleep to come. Change your sides, but unfortunately sometimes you are unable to sleep.

There can be various reasons for not being able to sleep. May be you are under stress or you have some tension, or you slept much during the day. Some times even though you are feeling sleepy, but are unable to sleep.

Instead of just lying on the bed, do the following:

1. Sit and rub your feet, give massage to your feet including sole's for 5 minutes each.

2. Massage both your calf's for 5 minutes each.

3. Rub your palm and massage your wrist upto elbow for 5 minutes each.

4. Massage you hand and feet, toes and fingers.

5. Sit. Keep your spine straight. Fold your hands and touch your shoulder's with your palm fingers and rotate your arms from your shoulder for 10 times.

6. Straighten your hands, close your palm with thumb inside your palm, touch both your closed palms together and rotate your palms.

7. Straighten your legs, keep them together and rotate your feet’s, both together ten times clockwise, ten times anti clockwise.

8. Lie down on your stomach, put your palms besides your shoulders, raise your chest and shoulders, bring them down. Do this for 5 times.

9. If you know about yoga, pranayam than do them. Just remember you need to be empty stomach to do some yoga and pranayam.

10. Meditation is a conscious sleep, which gives better results than sleep. If you had done meditation in past than do it now also, instead of just lying down and waiting to sleep.

Please take advice from registered medical practitioner before doing any form of exercise.

This is for people who do not have any illness and may not be able to sleep some times due to some stress or tension or due to any other reason.

Give time to yourself

Who invented, moon, earth, sun, solar system, universe, galaxies....?

When human beings make something, they say that they have created it.
They say that human have invented computer. They say that human have invented electricity. Electricity already existed on this earth or universe. The example is the lightning produced during rain and storms. A super computer already exists in human brain. Human beings think that they are the most intelligent living organism and they only have the power to create.Any human's so called invention gets dwarfed by even the smallest mountain range created on earth.

They say that buildings are made by human, Computers are made by human while earth and galaxies and human life and water and everything ( not invented by science ) are a natural process and not creations or inventions. H wants to prove that so called things invented by them are scientific and every thing else is not creation but it just exists due to natural process.

I would like to ask, who gave human their brain to think, who gave them their eyes to see. Who gave them life to think and do what they are doing.

They would say that it is natural process.

They explain that earth is balanced due to gravity and it rotates around Sun due to something like big bang theory. It is not build by anybody.

Earth is hanging ball in air. Is this not a creation. Is this just a natural process?

If earth, sun, water, mountains, human being are not creations then computer, motor cars, rockets, dams also are not inventions or creations, they are also natural process.

Why do human wants to take credit for that and do not want to give credit to nature for creation of universe.

Great thinking human being, If you make something it is your invention and if you get something like human body, sun, galaxies then that is just a scientific event.

Size of human being is nothing compared to our universe. Size of thing ( so called ) manufactured by human is nothing even when compared to this great manufacture of earth.

The so called manufacturing’s by human is nothing when compared to this creation of Universe.

Size of human made computer is nothing when compared to the great computer brain manufactured by nature.

Difference between normal breathing and Pranayam ( Pranayama )

Simple or normal breathing is natural breathing. We donot think that we are breathing during normal or natural breathing. We do our normal daily routine and breathe. When we breathe and donot think or feel our breathe, it is normal breathing or simple breathing. During normal or simple breathing we are not aware that we are breathing.

During Pranayam, we breathe consciously. We feel our breathe, we control our breathe, we know that we are breathing. During Pranayam ( Pranayama ) we are aware about our breathe. We are aware that we are inhaling and exhaling. We may breath from one nostril and exhale from same or other nostril. We may inhale for number of seconds, and exhale for number of seconds and keep track of it. We may stop our breath for few seconds.

When we are breathing consciously and controlling our breathe, that is Pranayam. ( Pranayama )

Pran means breath and ayama is control. Pranayam means control of breath.

Is your body Rich ! What is the value of your body ?

You know the value of your clothes. You feel proud that you are wearing costly clothes. You roam in Super Malls for hours and feel that you are rich.

You know the value of your house. You show off your costly house.

Is your body rich !

How glamorous is your inner body !

What about your body my friend !

Is it costly ?

Are you taking proper care of your body ?

Are you putting in time and money in your body ?

You are wearing costly clothes.

You have a big house.

Do you know what is the value of your eyes !

Do you know what is the value of of your liver !

Do you know what is the value of your stomach !

Do you know what is the value of your large intestine !

Do you know what is the value of your spleen !

Healthy body is the biggest wealth.

Give time for proper maintanence of your body.

Devote time to take proper care of your body.

Your body is not just your skin or hair.

Taking care of your skin and hair is not enough.

Let the glow come from within your body.

Improve your inner body.

My personal experience doing Pranayam and Yoga exercises as thought by His Holiness Swami Ramdevji Maharaj is extremely helpful.

Because of His Holiness Swami Ramdevji Maharaj Pranayam and Yoga, personally my fear of disease and death has vanished.

His Holiness Swami Ramdevji Maharaj explained that as a ‘second’ could cause death, in the same way a ‘second’ could give you life, which is absolutely true. Doing Yoga, Pranayam and Meditation gives us great healthy life.

If our wrong life style could lead us to diseases, our correct lifestyle and correct way of living could lead us to healthy living.

If nature has power to cause diseases, same nature has power to make us healthy.

There are no reason we should be fearful of diseases.

My class and bees

I was 16. Our class had sixty students. There were around 30 boys and 30 girls. We had our class during morning hours. Our class was on fourth floor. Their was one entrance door and a small window near the entrance door.

Their was a lobby outside this class entrance door and window.

Their were four rows of benches in the class. On the two rows of benches near the door, girls used to sit and boys used to sit on the next two rows of benches.

The wall opposite to the class entrance door had large windows. We can see our school large playground from these windows.

It was cool morning. Our smart statistics teacher was taking our class. Near our class window was a huge bee hive. I was sitting on the third bench of the third row.

Some students who were sitting near windows were throwing chalk sticks and paper balls on the bee hive. Within seconds thousands of bees entered our class room . Their was a total panic and chaos in the class.

Everybody ran out of the class. Thousands of bees were behind us. We ran towards the staircase. We crossed four class before reaching the stairs. Thousands of bees were still behind us.

We ran down the stairs, down to third floor, then second floor, then first floor, then ground floor. Hundreds of bees were still chasing us. We entered our school assembly hall and then to our big playground. Hundreds of bees were still chasing us. We ran one round of the playground. The bees had stopped chasing us. There were on bees around. We rested on the stage on our playground for few moments.

We walked towards our canteen.

We started taking stock of the situation, and wanted to know if bees had harmed anybody.

There were ten boys who were stung by the bees.

A bee had entered into the ear of one of our classmate. Another student slapped hard on his ear. The bee came out of his ear and flew away.

One student who was a karate practitioner was most stung by the bees. He had around 30 stings by the bees.

Others were stung 5 to 10 times.

Exercise anytime of the day or night.

Breathe in and out for 2 to 5 minutes. That is inhale and exhale for 2 to 5 minutes

Yawn 2 to 10 times

Clap for 2 to 5 minutes

Move your hands up and down from shoulder 10 to 20 times

Move your legs one after another up and down for 2 to 5 minutes.

Walk for 2 to 5 minutes

Rotate your palms 5 to 10 times

Open and close your palms 5 to 10 times

Rub your left palm with your right palm for 2 to 5 minutes

Rub your right palm with your left palm for 2 to 5 minutes

Press your left palm with your right palm for 2 to 5 minutes

Press your right palm with your left palm for 2 to 5 minutes

Fill air in your mouth and release it for 5 to 10 times

Move your stomach in and out for 5 to 10 times. (Do this exercise on empty stomach)

Fill air in your chest and releast it for 5 to 10 times

Rub your soles with your palm for 2 to 5 minutes

Press your soles with your palm for 2 to 5 minutes

Rub your left sole with right sole for 2 to 5 minutes

Rub your right sole with left sole for 2 to 5 minutes

Press your left sole with right sole for 2 to 5 minutes

Press your right sole with left sole for 2 to 5 minutes

Laugh loudly with your mouth fully open for 1 to 2 minutes

Laugh with your mouth shut for 1 to 2 minutes without making any noise

Rub fingers of your left palm with your right palm for 1 to 5 minutes

Rub fingers of your right palm with your left palm for 1 to 5 minutes

Rub fingers of your sole with your palms for 1 to 5 minutes

Inhale for 3 to 5 times making sound in your throat

Wistle for 30 seconds to 2 minutes

Stretch your legs 5 times

Stretch your hands 5 times

Easy Simple Way To Reduce Toxicity ( Toxin ) from Your Body

Easy way to remove toxic from you body is to follow these steps at least for a few days in a year.

You can follow this one day every month or one day every week or ten + days a year.

1. Close all Cell phone / Mobile phone / all other phone belonging to you.

2. Close Television belonging to you.

3. Eat Fruits and Vegetables.

4. Drink Water or Fruit Juice or Vegetable Soup.

5. If possible avoid any kind of use of electricity.

6. Speak minimum words. Speak only if required.

7. If possible try to be with your close family member's or be alone.

8. If possible do not think about money during this period.

9. Be aware that you have a nose and you are inhaling and exhaling through your nose. That is be aware that you are breathing through your nose.

10. Be aware that you have eyes and you are seeing beautiful things through your eyes.

11. Be aware that you have ears and you are listening beautiful sounds through your ear.

12. Be aware about your palm / hand / leg / foot touching the surface. Feel the surface. Is it smooth, harsh, cool, hot?

13. Be aware that you have tongue in your mouth, which helps you to taste, speak, swallow food, mix saliva.

14. Be aware of your beautiful body which enjoyed playing games when you were child.

15. Be aware that your ears have enjoyed sweet sound of birds when you were child.

16. Be aware that your nose has enjoyed beautiful smell of flowers.

17. Be aware that your eyes has seen beautiful greenary, rising sun, rising moon, colorful trees and flowers.

18. Be aware about the beautiful stories you have read or heard during your childhood.

19. Be aware about the games you played with your beautiful friends during your childhood.

20. If possible go for a walk in green garden or open area.

Easy way to get intoxicated - Easy way to meditate

Take a walk comfortably or walk briskly or jog, (depending on your walking / jogging practice and experience) for 30 to 45 minutes.

While walking / jogging if possible inhale / breath in and exhale / breath out.

(Ha ha, you will say everybody inhale / breath's in and exhale / breath's out)

If possible just remember that you are inhaling / breathing in and exhaling / breathing out.

When you think that you are breathing in when you inhale and you are breathing out when you exhale, it is conscious breathing.

If possible jog for one minute at the end of the walk (If you are just walking).

(I am writing the term 'if possible' because while doing any exercise you should feel good and comfortable, specially for meditation and yogic exercises)

After walking / brisk walking / jogging sit comfortable with your spine straight.

As you have jogged for last minute or more at the completion of this walk / jog, you will be able to feel your breath.

After sitting comfortably with spine straight - "breath" (that is inhale / breath in and exhale / breath out) for two to thirty minutes as per your comfort level at one place. You can start with two minutes and go on increasing the time as per your comfort.

You should sit breathing after a walk or jog maximum for 45 minutes.

You may feel dizzy or intoxicated during this process. If you are new to this exercise and feel dizzy or intoxicated during this process - stop.

Remember always feel comfortable while doing any exercise.

If you feel comfortable continue it for 45 minutes.

Donot be aware of time, you will automatically feel like getting up after 45 minutes or even earlier.

Donot force yourself, if you feel like ending it, end it.

Always take recommendation from a registered medical practitioner before doing any exercise.

Congrats if you sit for two minutes or more, sitting comfortably, with your spine straight and breathing, you have successfully meditated.

You would say, "but I am always breating"

Yes dear friend, you are always breathing "but are you always aware that you are breathing".

Being aware that you are breathing is meditation.

Asanas

Asanas focus stress at the gross level of existence : physical level. It comprise of various stretches and poses. These are to be performed with complete awareness, slow and gentle movement without any jerks.

The duality of muscles i.e. contraction & relaxation loses balance in stress. Our muscles tend to contract and become tense as a response to stress. In a prolonged, chronically stressful situation, the muscles may become chronically tensed. Yogasanas help us relax these areas by stretching the chronically stressed muscles. It also stimulates blood flow to the stretched areas, and helps regain the natural, relaxed state of muscles. With awareness of the actual physical movement are synchronized with the breath enhancing the relaxation, harmonizing and revitalizing the body and improving the function of the internal organs. This method of practice induces peace, balance and onepointedness which in turn brings about harmony in the physical body.

Hatha yoga

Hatha yoga : “ Ha” and “tha” means sun & moon respectively. They stand for all types of dualities in life like happiness and sorrow, pain & pleasure, day & night, etc. The ultimate purpose of hathayoga is to bring about an equilibrium, balance, harmony & unity in the dualities of life by creating balance between the interacting activities and processes of the pranic and mental forces. So, hatha yoga not only strengthens the body and improves the health but also activates and awakens the higher centres responsible for the evolution of human consciousness.

Pranayam addresses stress on the layer more subtle than the physical one, that is the vital energy layer. According to the yogic theory, mental & emotional imbalance first affects breathing and pranic imbalance and prolonged imbalance at this layer may affect the physical body.

On the physical level , stress can change the one’s pattern of breathing. One of the ways of responding to stress is holding our breathe, and the other response is fast or shallow breathe. This happens automatically without being our controlled to combat the stressful situation. In either case, the pattern of breathing is disturbed & affected. If the stress is prolonged, it becomes chronic stress & this pattern of breathing becomes our habit & natural to us.

Breath is a bridge between body & mind. Any changes in your body & mind affect your breathing. The same way changes in the breathing affect body & mind.When the mind is tensed or disturbed , breathing is fast & shallow & mind is relaxed or calm, breathing becomes slow, regular & deeper. The imbalances in the breathing in the long run disturbs the body & mind . & deep breathing produces relaxation effects in body & mind.

The act of breathing is an involuntary action, an unconscious process, can be controlled and changed voluntarily through pranayam.The vital energy flows through pranic channels called nadis, & according to yogic texts there are 72,000 nadis in human body , out of which 3 are main nadis, Ida, Pingla & Sushumna. The flow of prana through Ida & Pingla is connected to the left & right nostrils respectively also connected to the left & right brain.Ida is Chandra/Moon nadi, and its predominant activity promotes slowing down or cooling effect, similar to found in parasympathetic stimulation. Pingla is surya nadi & it’s predominanat activity stmulates activity & energy, similar to sympathetic stimulation.
